This is what I love about being with women: the giving, the taking, the sharing. There are no other relationships, I find, that convey this type of give and take. Husbands are in a special category. I often find that my husband, who loves me so much, wants to fix whatever it is that angers/hurts/upsets me when what I really need is just to have someone listen. Not everything needs to be fixed. This is something that women just know.
I was fascinated by the twists and turns our conversation took us; awed at how truly lovely each of these women were; and grateful to be, at least last night, in the company of women.

I totally agree with you. John is the same way. He always wants to "solve" my problems when I have had my feelings hurt or imagine that someone is upset with me. That has it's place, but he doesn't get that sometimes I just want someone to listen, validate my concerns, and sympathize with me. Growing up with all brothers, it wasn't until I had my first baby that I REALLY understood that women need other women. We can relate to each other in a way that men just don't understand. We really did have a good discussion the other night didn't we? I was still thinking about it the next morning.
This is what I think good books can do! Get the grey cells cooking and good conversations rolling. It's one reason I love to write!
Speaking of books; someone erased my copy of "Reality Check" off of my e-mail! Could you send it to me again, or do you have a paper copy that you'd be willing to part with for a while?
Tell me about the book group...it is the ward one? What are you reading next?
